The 360 mile weekend

Hi Folks,

This past weekend I was incredibly busy! Not long after we moved my grandmother asked me to bring my daughter to see her in Mabank and I promised her we would come the weekend after the Super-bowl.

This past week I’ve been working hard on meeting some of my goals for my business and part of that is developing a shopping cart tool where my clients can order on-line or I can order on their behalf and oversee the fulfillment of the orders, streamlining my processing in the mean time.  I had been doing some research and remembered a fellow photographer, Erin, of Purple Tree Studios had mentioned a program that would do just this in an online discussion.  I shot her an email and she was so open and helpful, she just about sold me on the program due to her happiness. She was so kind that she even offered to meet me and show me how she uses the program!

So on Saturday, Dino and I headed out to Grapevine to meet her and discuss the program.  We signed up for a trial and I’ve been working out the details and trying to determine if we are going to commit to it or not.

On Sunday I kept my promise to my Nanny and took Gwen out to Mabank. We had a wonderful time! We picked her up at her sweetheart luncheon at church in the afternoon and took her home. We spent several house sitting around talking and looking through her albums, and showing her some of my work. I got to practice some of my off camera lighting and got some great images of her and my daughter spending time together. This was a day to remember and now I have the images to help me do just that!

Check them out!

Aren’t they cute? I love these two so much!

So I titled this post the 360 mile weekend because from leaving the house on Saturday to returning on Sunday evening, that is how many miles we put on the new car! (And it was TOTALLY worth it!) What a great weekend!

Until next time!

Our new house – Lavon, Texas – Future showroom for Lady J Images

Hi everyone!

In my last post I mentioned that one of the things that I had accomplished since the message prior to that one was becoming a new home owner! We are so excited about our new house and see our family growing here for years to come.  I have many visions from a business standpoint for this house and I’m so excited for what is to come.

I’m considering many changes for the business so I’m not ready to discuss everything here.  However, one thing I know we are working towards is having a  show room for conducting consultations and proofing sessions right here in our home.  I’m so excited for this opportunity and what I feel is an upgrade to the customer experience we can offer our clients!

Here is an image of the house right before we moved in.

Stay tuned for an update on the show room!

Until next time!

Beautiful Palladium Ballroom Reception

After many months of no posts, I’m back and I’ve been BUSY! Since my last post, I have attended some photography workshops, had my Gall Bladder removed, purchased a vehicle and became a new home owner! I know. I know! Excuses, Excuses! But, at least I have had GOOD excuses not to be able to post more current blogs.

With the new year now in full effect, I have also been dreaming up some wonderful changes for Lady J Images, which I will reveal in future posts.  You know I have to keep you on the edge of your seat! 🙂 While on my blogging hiatus, I did get some chances to whip out my camera and get some work done. I attended a workshop that taught me some new lighting techniques called Off Camera Lighting.  I’ve been working to master it in recent months. I’m not quite there yet, but I like the results I’m seeing so far.

Today’s post highlights a beautiful reception, which I had the honor of 2nd shooting for one a photographer I admire greatly!  I’d be lying if I said I didn’t do the “happy dance” and let out a happy yelp when I received a call from Kevin Jairaj, requesting me to assist him! I’ve been following his work since I got back into photography in 2009, so I was more than thrilled!  I was elated when I arrived at the Palladium Ballroom and saw the beautiful set up for the reception that Kevin assigned to me for capturing details.

Here are some of the images. I used some of the off camera lighting (OCF) techniques in some of these. Let me know what you think.

Congratulations Tat! – Graduation Party

Earlier this month we joined with friends and family to congratulate my Boyfriend’s cousin, Tat, on the completion of her Master’s degree program. We are so proud of her! Since both Dino and I are also attending school, we truly understand how hard she has worked to achieve this wonderful accomplishment, all while also being a mother and a teacher!  Several family members came to Dallas from the Houston area, and it was a full evening of fun-filled socializing, eating and dancing and we all had a blast. I hope you enjoy viewing just a few of the images I captured at the event.

Congratulations Tat! Keep this stride going and you can accomplish anything you want to do!

Until next time!

Fun at the Beach – Galveston, Tx.

This past weekend my family and I took a trip down to the Houston area to visit family and get away for a day.  The kids start school next Monday (on my birthday!) so this was our last weekend before all the hustle and bustle that comes with the school year.  While we were there, we decided to take the short drive down to Galveston to let the kids play at the beach.  Dino’s kiddos have never been to the beach, so we thought it would be cool to take them, even for just a little while.

Here are some of the shots I got while we were goofing off. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed these. We had the best time going! We have a future visit on the ‘To do’ list. A’ceria asked if we can go back this Friday! 🙂

Until Next time…

Happy Birthday Madeline

Meet Miss Madeline Samford! Isn’t she just adorable?! I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the fun time that was her fourth birthday party, which was held at The Little Gym in Dallas.  I have to say it was one of the least cookie cutter birthday parties for little ones I’ve ever attended and all the kids really seemed to enjoy themselves.  If you are looking for something out of the box for a birthday party for a child under 10, this is a good one to give a shot!

There were lots of activities like a warm up dance, parachute play, a bounce walk, bubbles and of course cake and gifts! I’d say Madeline had a great birthday party! Take a look at some of the images I got:

Watching these kids play have fun and scream with glee was the highlight of the day for me! If you’d like me to photograph for you at your event, contact me and we can make arrangements! Wouldn’t you rather enjoy the birthday festivities with your little one than be stuck behind a camera!?! (They only have so many birthdays you know!)

I hope you enjoyed looking at these images as much as I liked taking them. Please leave a comment, share with your friends, “like” my page, visit me on Facebook, (Or you could just contact me) and let me know!

I hope to hear from you soon!

Until next time…

Houston and Kelly – Weatherford Wedding

I know, I know.  It’s been FOREVER since I have shared a blog post with you all. I have missed you and I have missed writing my blog. I wish I could say I have been too busy to blog, but the truth is I needed to take the time to rejuvinate myself and my creativity! Thanks for letting me take care of me, so I can bring more good stuff to you in the long run!

Today’s blog features Houston and Kelly Lee who tied the knot back in May.  I’ve taken the advice of my sweetheart and placed all the images into one blog post (Versus splitting them up into multiple posts as I did with “Jeff and Lindsay getting ready,”  “Jeff and Lindsay – Ceremony,” “Jeff and Lindsay – Reception,” and “Super Special Bonus – Jeff and Lindsay.”

Please let me know which style you like best.  I need your feedback in order to make the best choices for presentation going forward.

Kelly and Houston were such a cute couple on thir special day and I got to photograph Kelly and her girls getting ready for the main event. Kelly was so attentive to her flower girls helping them get ready.  She was full of anticipation and was about to boil over when it was time for the ceremony to begin. The below highlights the girls getting ready, the wedding ceremony, a couple of images right after the vows, and the reception.

As I said, it has been a while since my last post, but I hope you will agree with me that it has been worth the wait. This was a beautiful wedding and I was so privlidged to be able to share it with Houston and Kelly.  Thanks to both of them, and thanks to Amanda of Mulberry Lane Studios for inviting me to work with your studio on this most special occasion!

Rory and Ale – Addison, Tx

On Saturday I had the pleasure of working with Rory Balthazar and Ale Fierro in beautiful Addison, Texas. There were so many stunning locations to shoot where we were, but honestly, these two made easy work of my job photographing them!  They met at a mutual friend’s and have been together for about a year and a half.  Rory said, “I didn’t even think she noticed me…” These two love to have fun together! This was evident at their photo shoot; they were laughing the entire time at their own private jokes.  They both told me they love watching and playing soccer and watching/attending FC Dallas games.

Rory adore’s Ale’s fire and Ale’s favorite thing about Rory is that he’s always up for anything and is just a great person. They were both great sports on the photo shoot letting me be as creative as I wanted to be.  They even got a little wet!! Check it out!

Thanks Ale and Rory for letting me share a part of your day and fun! I had a blast shooting you guys and I hope you love the outcome! If you like what you see here, feel free to look around and check out the rest of the blog. Feel free to share the link with your friends and family, leave a comment, like the page or visit me on Facebook.

Jeff and Lindsay – Reception – Fort Worth, Texas

Part three of my three-part blog series on Jeff and Lindsay’s Saginaw, Texas wedding highlights their reception at Los Vaqueros Mexican restaurant in the Fort Worth Stock Yards.  After the ceremony, the photography team snuck Lindsay and Jeff off for a private bride and groom session while all their guests traveled to their reception area. Keep an eye out for a special bonus post that will highlight the sexy bride and groom post. For now however, enjoy viewing the decadent cake, sentimental dances, and other fun moments that were the reception!

I hope you enjoyed viewing the fun reception images! “Stay tuned” for the sexy bride and groom post coming up in a few days! I’m saving my favorite for last, so you will not want to miss it! Feel free to share the link to my blog to your friends and family, leave a comment, like the post, or subscribe to my blog! It would certainly make me smile!
